Give your students the ultimate creative launchpad for their Creating Texts unit with this flexible masterclass inspired by State Library Victoria's collection.
In a pre-recorded online lesson, students will be introduced to the You Have a New Memory exhibition. Together, you’ll explore the extraordinary photographs on display and how they can be used as authentic mentor texts.
Students will discover how real writers draw on personal history, memory and reflection to craft powerful, authentic memoirs.
Through guided, curriculum-aligned activities, your students will:
- Find their authentic voice: Analyse real-world personal writing to develop a purposeful, nuanced narrative style.
- Master the craft of memoir: Learn how to translate lived experience and personal reflection into compelling writing.
- Unpack the stimulus: Practise making meaningful, deliberate connections between titles, as well as visual and written prompts.
Format
Flexible pre-recorded digital lesson with printable student and teacher resources. Play it in class at a time that works for your timetable. The lesson will be released on Friday 16 October at 8.30am.
